This book has a beautiful cover. The premise of this story is fascinating. How would knowing the date of your death affect your life?
The book itself did not seem to live up to the hype. While the book was immensely readable, I simply didn’t feel the connections I think I was meant to feel. The siblings did not seem close to me. This is like four separate stories totally unrelated to each other. Simon’s story, which is the first, was also my favorite. He felt real, and San Francisco felt real. Karya’s story just felt convenient. Daniel’s story felt contrived. It felt like characters and a story were thrown in just for convenience. The last story, Varya’s, contained elements that I found offensive. (Animal testing). I was so distracted by that that I may have missed the point. Overall, this was a readable story about four sibling’s lives.
