The plot is very unique, compared to anything I have ever read before. It takes on a psychological role, that creeps the reader out as much as the characters. I was not all that into it, simply because psychological thrillers don't really pull me in, but I would give it a shot if i saw it on my bookshelf, and I didn't have anything else to read.
This genre is not something I reach for, because of the fact that suspense usually comes across as "boring" to me when i read it in a book. Now the writing was strong, I'm not denying that, however the book never really jumped out at me in the beginning, and that to me is how I tell if that is going to be a book I would enjoy.
