The book follows the lives of the four Gold siblings. We see their achievements, their struggles, their strengths and weaknesses. I’d that were all there was to it, this would be an interesting read. But here’s where Ms. Benjamin takes the story to a whole other level.
It all starts when the Gold siblings meet a gypsy who tells them each the date of their deaths. We then experience the story through the eyes of each sibling as they grow up in the shadow of the gypsy’s prophecy. Each sibling is vastly different from the next, and each story is intriguing.
The question that I kept asking over and over was this: were these really the destinies of each sibling? Or did they believe so strongly in their prophecy that they created their destiny to match it?
