I read this book with a book club, and I think that was the perfect setting. There was a lot to discuss and to think about packed into this family epic. The writing style fit the topic very well; it felt mystical, nostalgic, and like a fable at times.

Each sibling has something a little off about them as the novel went on, and you wonder if it is because they found out the dates of their deaths at a young age. Parts of this book were eerie and unsettling, but they were meant to be. At the same time, it was rooted in realism and not a supernatural story.

Although I didn't love the experience of reading this book, I felt it was well written and an interesting premise. If you read it, I recommend reading with a buddy so you can discuss!
