It starts out with a bit of strange wording, but the story itself is interesting and captivating enough to get past it. I could've lived without the immediate focus on a thirteen-year-old girl's breasts, honestly. I do really love how it's a multi-cultural snapshot of 1969 New York. Being a 90s child, I love reading about my mom's era. So far, I really love Daniel, even if he doesn't think things all the way through. But really, what eleven-year-old boy does? Varya and Simon are kinda tied for my second favorite of the Gold children. It's a bit like reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, in a way, with four vastly different siblings going in to see the fortune-teller. I feel for Simon, since he's the baby.
