The magical realism-ish element of this book is what drew me in, I don't *usually* go for the whole family drama thing when I'm picking a book to read. However this was on every list and page I followed when it came out and people were raving about it! That coupled with the aforementioned magical realism element, finally made me break down and check it out from my library (I do work there after all, so it wasn't like I had to make a special trip). To my surprise I read this book in almost one sitting! I was totally drawn in to the story, and really enjoyed watching all of the paths life laid out for these siblings. I felt like each separate siblings storyline was interesting in and of itself and then watching how everything came together at times, and the ways in which this family was brought together or torn apart throughout life, kept me turning the pages to see what life would throw at them next. I still think about this book from time to time, the story stayed with me. I suppose I like family drama more than I thought I did!
