I am a self proclaimed connoisseur of anything magical so when I read the premise of this novel I knew it was something I'd have to pick up.

The Immortalists tells the story of four siblings, the oldest of whom is thirteen, who go to see a nomadic fortune teller when she takes up residence in their city. The woman is said to have the power to predict the moment of one's death.

The novel explores in depth the lives of the four siblings and how they change and develop knowing the information the fortune teller shares. The story follows each of them as they go on to lives their lives, each in a unique way with one perusing magic and one moving across the country.

As a whole, the novel is a fascinating look into how one might behave knowing that there is only a finite amount of time left, whether that is many years or just a few.
