Magicians....Fortune Tellers....herbal doctors...anti-aging research....philosophical intrigue....so much to consider for the characters in this great read.
Its 1969. Four young siblings visit a woman they have been warned to avoid. A woman rumored to be a fortune teller. Not just a fortune teller. She can predict the date you will die. Each child is forced to see her alone to be told her prophecies. 2 will die young. 1 will have long live. 1 will not share date.
My favorite was Simon, the youngest. He lives in San Francisco and is gay, working at as a dancer at a club called Purps.
Forced to confront issues at a young age, we see how it influences their lives and live choices. Reality vs. Illusion. Destiny vs Choice.
If we are made aware of impending doom or good things, does this influence how we internalize things or how we live ?

I loved the idea of this, and the issues it confronts. I thought the idea was well executed and it held my interest and intrigue throughout. Recommended.
