The Gold children, Simon, Varya, Klara, and Daniel, gather up their courage and head off on an adventure to find the psychic who has set herself up in the lower east side of 1969 New York City. One at a time they have their turn to learn the date of their deaths.

The Immortalists has so many interesting components in it. In particular Simon's story and Varya's research held my attention. Both stories were devastatingly sad but well developed.

Although I enjoyed The Immortalists, it felt a bit flat to me and I had trouble liking or connecting with the characters. There were five stories within this novel that could have each been a stand alone novel, the Gold children's stories plus that of the psychic.
