I'd been planning to read this book forever, and I'm so glad I finally did. The plot premise is very creative and intriguing, and the writing was fantastic. The sibling dynamic was really interesting, and I enjoyed the author's decisions regarding the layout of the book which gave the reader a chance to get to know each sibling in depth. The book raises many questions about fate vs. fortune, and reality vs. pretense, and how much control we actually have over our own lives. It also explores issues of responsibility and our roles in life, whether we can choose to abandon them or whether we must fulfill them. There is also, of course, a theme of grappling with the prospect of death, and how differently people react to that knowledge-even when they are from the same family. I'm sure this book has been at the center of discussion in many a book club.
