I consider this novel to be one of my favorite books that I have read this year. But not only is it one of my favorites, it's also one of the BEST books that I have read this year. It's rare to find a book that hits you on an emotional level and makes you love it, but is also extremely well written. This book does both very well.
It's a tricky story, because it is told from the points of view of four siblings, who are told by a psychic when they are children the exact circumstances of their deaths. It's creepy as hell, but also incredibly moving and tender to read about each of them trying to escape their fates. They love each other, but are also torn apart by these predication, which drives them farther and farther apart.
