** spoiler alert ** I started out liking this a lot but it got less intriguing as time went on. Although I can appreciate the symmetry of why it was sectioned the way it was, I just felt very little connection to Daniel/Varya.

Simon: loved him. Loved every second of his story and wish I had more of it. I was really sad when he died and it speaks a lot about the power of his character and story. No complaints.
Klara: I think because she was involved in much of Simons story, it made it easier to feel connected to her and her story after his death. However, she should’ve died on stage or something. The suicide was unwarranted and seemed too “quick”. Like she hadn’t ever contemplated suicide until that day???
Daniel: we met him in adulthood and there’s really nothing remarkable about him. I don’t really care that he died, also his death was weird. I hoped he’d die like his father from a random heart attack or get in a car crash. Really enjoyed his interactions with Raj and Ruby.
Varya: I’m an animal researcher so I really enjoyed her portion of the story, though the emotional struggle with Frida made me unbelievably sad. That's okay though - I like when books make me feel things. I wish we knew if Varya died or not. I see why we don’t but just a preference thing. Again, knew very little about her and we weren’t set up to care as much about her and Daniel as we were about Simon and Klara.

Overall worth the read, great writing, great story, really makes you think.
