Turned off by the first few sentences in the "First Look"

I won't be reading this book. I really enjoyed the synopsis about a psychic telling a group of siblings when they were going to die and see the outcomes of how their lives panned out. But when I read the first few sentences in the "first look" it goes straight into talking about Varya's private parts, which is TMI. Was that really necessary? This turned me off from wanting to read more, which is unfortunate because I was excited about this one.
