I'm on the fence about this one. I like the premise, and I like that it centers around a Jewish family, something that very few fiction novels seem to do. I am curious to see if this group of siblings have predetermined fates or simply allow their superstitions to dictate how they live their lives. The tone of the book seems kind of sad and pessimistic, and that is what causes my hesitation.
