I was drawn to the book because of the cover; colorful and beautiful. Although the blurb described a story I wouldn't normally seek out, it sounded interesting. The blurb was definitely more interesting than the excerpt. It seemed like the blurb was written first, and the writer tried to match it with a story. The writing was slow, tedious, and didn't engage this reader. It took 3 attempts to finish.
