The prologue is set in 1969 and you are initially introduced to 4 characters: Varya, Daniel, Klara and Simon. The intro seemed unnecessarily detailed of pubescent growth, but worth reading on. They face the predicament-- if you can know exactly when you will die, would you want to know?
