This novel shapes up to be enormously popular because of its subject matter, but also because the author describes the characters so vividly and winsomely. Unlike my initial impression, this is not young adult fare. There is progressively more sophisticated esoterica as the story unfolds.
In just a few lines, you read secrets about the characters you will want to know better. The premise, that knowing when one will die (perhaps!) shapes how one will grow up and live, is not new, but seems couched here in mysticism and magic.
Could this be the start of a series? Perhaps. But the maiden effort certainly draws one to want to read more. I want to know what happens next to these four siblings.
