Such a relevant premise for me!

I was really excited for this “summer beach read”! The premise was totally relatable, since we have a beach house that I spend a lot of time at during the summer season. We don’t rent our place out like Ruthie has to, but we can vouch for the influx of tourists creating heavy traffic and long restaurant lines!

Despite the excellent plot, I just never related to any of the characters, and found the text message parts unnecessary. I did finish it hoping that I could at some point relate to more than just the beach season aspects, but it never really fell into place, and I found myself plodding through it. I’ve read lots of praise about this one, so maybe it was just me. Sometimes when I'm overly excited about the premise of a book, I may put too much pressure on it to live up to high expectations.
