At first, the book was a little confusing because you're introduced to so many characters, so quickly. I wasn't sure how they were connected or who they all were but I quickly figured it out and fell right into life on the North Fork and the drama surrounding The Belfry- the town's local museum.

The plot is told through different perspectives, which helps feed it along and lets you see the bigger picture. You have Ruthie, who's entire life is falling apart in front of her, while she is forced to be a bystander; a poor one at that, as she watches her ex husband fall in love and live with the wealthiest woman available. And then through the eyes of her daughter, who is falling for the much older Lucas, who is definitely a bad influence. And finally, through Doe, who is learning how to play with the rich kids and ultimately, make money off of her good fortune.

Blundell definitely has an amazing writing style, though the three mentions of animal deaths towards the beginning were not only out of place but unwarranted. I almost quit reading because they were feeling so frequent but I'm glad I kept on. It was a good story and seemed very realistic.
