Ruthie leaves her home and packs up her family's life every summer to rent out her beach side home for the money. This summer someone from her past, Adeline, us staying in her home and seems to like Ruthie's life. Ruthie and her husband are not technically divorced and an old flame comes back into the picture as well this summer. Of course there is antics from her teenager and Adeline's stepson that make the summer seem longer than it really is. Seeing her past and present collide only makes the circumstances that she finds her life in really make the drama come off the page. None of the characters seem simple, but multifaceted and makes them more realistic and the reader can sympathize with their circumstances.
