What feels like it is going to be a perfectly lovely and light summer beach reads quickly becomes so much more! Reading how Ruthie Beamish goes to almost comic extremes (almost) to maintain control over a life that seems to be spiraling out of control makes for an addictive book full of gossipy back stabbing, family drama in several different and unique forms, a watch that can't seem to stay in one place, and some additional crazy antics. I really enjoyed the story being told from 2 different points of view: Ruthie, a mother and curator at the local art gallery, and Doe, a millennial who is faking it to make it. Texts from Ruthie's daughter provide additional insight and a somewhat intermission feel to the story. So if you are looking for a fun summer read or something with a bit deeper character development, The High Season should be on your reading list!
