The High Season for me was a difficult book to connect to the main character, possibly due to the age difference, but I was not able to enjoy the storyline as much as I had hoped. The main character does go through her ups and downs and with friends and family and learns to cope and react to these situations in different ways. The side characters lacked substance and did not push the story further. Typically I love the interactions of the side characters with each other and the main character, but again their was a disconnect that made their roles less enjoyable with the main plot of the story. I did have high hopes for this story, but overall it fell flat for me. I do hope others enjoy it where it could not though, because I've heard great things about other books by the same author!
