I purchased this book for $1 as a “Blind Date With a Book” at my local bookstore, but never got past page 50. I wanted to like it and based on that gorgeous cover and intriguing description, I thought it would be the perfect summer read. But it just had so many characters to keep track of, all of which were awful people but not in the “soap opera like” entertaining way, and it just dragged on and on. I tried to stick with it, but it just wasn’t the easy, fast-paced summer book I was expecting. It was too much work. The daughter’s text conversations also bothered me, it just felt like filler instead of adding to the storyline. I don’t think this was a bad book, it just wasn’t really for me...
