What would you do in order to keep your family home?

Reading the excerpt made me think about and wonder where the story would go. Why was summer so painful for Ruthie? Because of the "summer bummer" of renting her home over the summer in order to make a living, or was it because of something that happened in her past? I was intrigued by the characters: how do Ruthie and Mike make their "faux" divorce work? Will they be able to keep their cherished family home? Is Jem's exasperation simply part of being a teenager, or is there something else at play? Who is Adeline, and how will she keep herself busy over the summer? This was already on my to-read pile. The cover is gorgeous and would look lovely on my bookshelf!
