The cover, while visually pleasing, does not seem to match with the tone shared in the first two chapters of the novel - although, then again, it's only the first two chapters. From the cover, I'd expect a more somber, serious tone, while the protagonist, Ruthie, certainly has an edge and a quirk to her. I'd be interested to see how everything plays out, and how the mysteries and revelations alluded to in the book's description come up and play out. It's certainly an interesting premise, and one that hits close to home - my aunt has a beach house she rents out for the summer, and I've worked before as her cleaner. Going in every week or two to prepare for a new guest, just as Ruthie described. Would love to finish this book out!
