I had a hard time getting into this story. I just didn't feel invested in Ruthie and her daughter or the other characters. The story itself sounds like it would be interesting, but it's also not something that I usually read so maybe that's why it didn't come across well. It was a struggle to finish this, even though it was one of the shorter previews.
