Readers who are fond of the works of Barbara Delinsky and Nancy Thayer will find The High Season to their liking. The first impression begins the story of Ruthie, who must rent out her house each summer, so that she can enjoy the beach for the rest of the year. When her renter arrives early, the ease with which her ex-husband converses with the woman seems to give Ruthie pause. I would be interested in finding out what happens between the two families, especially the teenagers on both sides. The first impression gives me the idea that the book is a romance and would be perfect for those looking for a lighthearted beach read. The cover conveys this idea and would stand out on the shelves.
