I don't think I have ever quit a book so fast as I started and dropped this one. If you have ever wanted to read a disturbing mix of overly-complicated sci-fi and weird pronouns, this is the place for you. Some characters are inexplicably gendered and others are, equally inexplicably, not, and some go back and forth. Everything about the world in the first chapter is difficult to grasp and complicated. I mean, Little Sekmet Settlement? Could this be any more clunky? It has horrible mouth feel and is incredibly grating. The idea that everyone's names say where they work and in what department is cool, but the needless gay sex scene in the first 13 pages does nothing for the plot and feels like maybe this author would've rather written homo-erotic fan fiction instead of an actual novel. I couldn't finish this book and I will never touch this author again.
