Not bad, not riveting
The good:
It had good pacing, and a fleshed out story. The writing itself was enjoyable. The characters were sympathetic, and the climax surprised me. I read most of it in one sitting.
The bad:
The plot itself seemed formulaic and unoriginal. It read like every other YA supernatural/ghost story. One of the final reveals was pretty obvious. The foreshadowing for it was pretty obvious.
The nitpicky:
What happened to her friends? How did they get hurt so bad? What happened with her family? Was there an investigation after what happened? Also I wanted to know more about what happened in Philly before she moved. There is a little explanation, but it lacks the details to fully explain why the family moved to an entirely new state.
The takeaway:
I don't regret reading it. It was a good time passer. But I'm glad I borrowed it from the library instead of purchasing it. I don't think it has a lot of rereadability.
