This is my first book by Danielle Vega. She does a wonderful job executing a well rounded haunted house story. I liked the back story of the house and the local legends. Even though this isn't necessarily a jump in your seat and have nightmares kind of read, it still carried the haunting elements I enjoy.
The ending is where it lost some of the traction for me. It went from the showdown of the horror century to the insertion of some almost cringe level inclusions. Just a few elements that could have been left out and kept the novel on the track it was going.
I own all of Vega's novels and this was my first step into her writing world. I love the writing style, the atmosphere she creates and the good spine tingling creepy crawlies she so effortlessly delivers. I'll defiitely be making it a point to get to the rest of her novels. I hope they hold just as much sinister as this one did.
