It has been years (decades, maybe) since I have read a Horror novel. I realize this is YA horror and perhaps not as scary as some, but it definitely got under my skin. I couldn't read right before bed and felt like I was leaning away as I kept reading. I sed to live horror (Middle school and Stephen King) but have mostly lost my tolerance of it. That said, this was engaging and just scary enough. I do agree with other reviews that the end was unexpected and there was room for more character development, but, it's a YA horror novel! It was a fun, quick read that had me on the edge of my (rather timid) seat.

Some themes: teenage angst, abusive relationships, teen stereotypes, haunted house, ghosts, being the new kid in town...

Thanks to BookishFirst and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
