Right from the prologue the writing really has the spooky, ominous tone that you’d hope for from a ghost story. Even when it delves into the more everyday parts of the story, like when we first meet Hendricks going to her new school, it has a strong suspenseful quality to it, where you’re curious about her and what’s going on. I thought the ghost-like quality of the image on the cover is really effective.
