Jess shows up at Lauren and Kate's mother's house one day exclaiming that she is looking for her father, Harry, Lauren and Kate's late father. The aftermath almost destroys Lauren and Kate's respective families and causes the girls to rethink who their father (and mother) really was. I was hoping that Lauren would get a backbone and that Kate and Matt would succeed in their endeavor. Throughout the book, there is evidence to support that Jess is the father's daughter, the mother's daughter, and Lauren's daughter. Jess almost causes an irreparable rift between Kate and her husband. Events from Lauren's past are made clear, and she finds true happiness. I was not expecting that ending.
