Lauren and Kate are sisters precariously close to being estranged, envying what the other one has, when Jess shows up on their parents' doorstep, claiming to be the daughter of their father. With their father dead it becomes obvious there will be no clear-cut answers - is Jess their sister? Kate's convinced she can't be and Lauren's confident she is. Kate becomes increasingly convinced that Jess is out to get her, just when she and her husband's most desired wish is coming true. Meanwhile, Lauren is getting a second chance that could end up destroying her marriage. And their mother Rose isn't being the slightest bit forthcoming about the past. This was enjoyable, though it feels like the number of twists and plot turns seems slightly over the top. It feels slightly overdone at times, and yet nothing feels completely implausible. Worth the read, but not necessarily one of my favorites.
