I was really excited that Netgalley granted my wish for this ARC of Sandie Jones new novel The Half Sister. Ever since I read her first novel The Other Woman, I have loved Sandie Jones. I am sad to say that this one did not live up to my expectations. The story did keep my attention and I read the book in 2 days, however, the pacing felt off. The story dragged in places and then randomly you would start a new chapter and the it would be weeks later, which is fine but I prefer when the chapter heading let's you know it has been a specific time change so I can get in the mindset that time jumped instead of a character suddenly saying oh it's been 2 weeks since I last saw you and the last chapter references their previous meeting.

This book also covers a lot of heavy topics all at once, infidelity, infertility, IVF, abortion and adoption. Definitely a lot to put in one novel.

The book is told from Lauren and Kate, the two main sisters. I wish we had gotten to see some of the story from Jess (the mysterious half sister) point of view. It would also have been nice to have some flashback scenes with Harry and Rose from 1996.

Overall, I would recommend reading this book but expect it to be full of heavy topics which are more prevalent than the actual psychological thriller portion.
