I thought this book seemed promising and I’ve never read this author’s work before. I was dismayed upon realizing that it was a domestic drama, not a suspense novel, despite how it had been promoted. I found the characters to be be wholly unlikable (especially Simon) and was turned off by the bitter bickering. I get it - Family - Bitter bickering is bound to happen. But it offers no appeal for me me within a story. I’d still like to try another book by this author but I ended up not seeing this one all the way through since I disliked it so much. For me, it simply wasn’t intriguing and I was not the right reader for what the story had to offer. I was not invested enough to care about the secrets the characters were keeping.
