Missed the mark

I've LOVED the other two books I've read from this author, so I couldn't wait to read this one. Sadly, it just didn't work for me.

Compared to the prior books, these characters were flat and boring, and the pace was way too slow for a book in this genre. It was more of a family drama instead of the psychological thriller I was led to expect. There were a couple unexpected twists, but it wasn't enough to make up for some of the holes and unlikeable characters. The premise was good, but it didn't hit the mark.

I will definitely check out future books by Jones, but I do hope they follow suit of the earlier books instead of this one.
