This book seems to pick up on typical character traits in description. While this can be a turn off, I could also relate with many things each of the characters felt and said. It is an interesting concept, a woman turning up randomly at your and saying she is part of the family, that you have the same father. Of course the father has been dead for a year, and the characters are each processing that in their own way.
I do feel the chapters were a bit wordy. While I understand the author was trying to paint a full picture for us, there was often a description that seemed ad nauseum.
I like the cover, it makes it seem dark and mysterious, though there was nothing in the excerpt to imply that there was something sinister going on.
