The opening lines of the story drew me in right away to a seemingly successful couple in all areas of their lives except in the area they desperately want to fill, the one with children. I loved how the reader is immediately set up to feel the struggles and the longing Kate has to have a child, while trying to allow her husband to be optimistic with each treatment she has to undergo. I am drawn to the family dynamics especially between those of Kate and her older sister Lauren. I am eager to allow the author to take me into their back story and learn more about the underlying feelings they seem to have for one another as well as for the rest of the family. I loved how the author is more show than tell the feeling and thoughts of the characters with placing them in simple everyday activities such as a weekly family meal together. Needless to say I am hooked!
The book cover looks amazing with the two women as well as the great use of cool colors as part of the lettering contrasted with the red leading readers to feel there will be a great thriller awaiting them!
