The set up has two sisters with unhappy secrets who are confronted by a possible half-sister. The first few chapters were honest and tense. With difficult scenes from Doctors Offices, and at home with verbally abusive partners, juxtaposed against seemingly happy family memories and Sunday lunches.
I did enjoy the complexity of the characters but I always have a hard time reading about verbally abusive men so that scene was a challenge to get through. I'll be interested to find out what happens with the introduction of the 3rd sister.
