Curious to see if this story carries enough weight

Using DNA test results is a very trendy premise right now, and I wonder if this writer is informed enough to have written about the DNA testing/genealogy aspect of the storyline accurately, or if it is a cheap plot twist. Would be willing to give this story a shot.
