The cover of The Half Sister does a good job of giving of an ominous vibe regarding this supposed half sister.

What would have convinced me right away to buy this just having read the summary?
Being a woman of science, the details of that DNA test would definitely have intrigued me if I were Kate or Lauren. But also the fact that a DNA test is mentioned, presumably to authenticate this Jess person's claim to being related to them makes me think the complete opposite of her claim and that she's trying too hard to be convincing. Who are you really Jess? I love stories where a person's true identity is questionable.

As I read the the first look though, the summary was a little misleading in that it makes it seems like it was only the sisters meeting for lunch and that this would be a story mainly concentrating on them and their dynamic, not their entire family's.

Definitely feeling for Kate and had my fingers crossed right along with Matt. Also, a couple that plots perfect murders together? Sold.

Jess' reveal was pretty solid and I like the organic reaction from the family, especially Rose.

Simon disgusts me. Hate him. Shove him in the corner of the book somewhere please and thank you. My heart goes out to Lauren.

Overall, on the surface it seems like a classic family with issues they try to hide but have no choice to deal with kind of story but I'm getting the feeling that there's more to it than that.
