I want to start out by saying that while slave girls escaping is definitely a massively used trope, I tore through this book. The author is not predictable, which I must tell you, as one of those people who is constantly guessing ahead correctly, I absolutely adore. PLEASE, surprise me!
The tattoos the girls wear that mark them as slaves are enchanted, in a way that makes them burn like fire if they are covered up for longer than a few minutes. This makes it impossible to run and hide from what you are. The girls who escape go in search of a woman who can remove the marks. But she must be paid. So along the way, they begin robbing wealthy travelers, men who they knew had enjoyed their...services. And who they become is something entirely new.
While the book does have an ending (unlike other books which just stop in the middle so that you're forced to purchase the next - looking at you Bella Forrest!) I was left feeling...unsatisfied. I wanted more from one of the characters. Lucky for me, according to Goodreads, there will be a sequel; this is looking like the first book in a duology. If you're looking for a girl power novel, this one is awesome, and was also a very easy read. I read it in one sitting.
4 stars, I will definitely be reading the next one in the series.
