Holy shit! This book i so good there are almost no words. Aster is a badass of the first order and I will never get enough of her. She's strong and fierce but also just trying to hold everything together and get beyond what's happened to her at the welcome house. Honestly, I loved everyone of the girls in their own way. Clementine was sweet but also ready to cut somebody if they were going after one of the girls. Violet might be my favorite character of all and I KNOW SHE IS ALIVE (or she better be...). She was able to change so much on this journey and it was nice to see her growth. I hope Aster finds her and is able to give her the freedom she deserves as well.
The girls' journey was extraordinary. I already loved the concept of them robbing rich dudes on their journey to get enough money to get their favors removed and it could not have been more perfect on the page. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time worried one of them was going to get hurt. I cried so much when Violet was left.
I also loved the fantasy aspects of the ghosts living in the dark. It fave the story a whole other angle and it was thrilling. This whole world was expertly built by the author. The welcome house guards being able to manipulate emotions was frightening and brutal. It reminded me of depression.
The ending...oh boy did I sob. I so understand Aster's point of view of helping people but I wanted her to take a little bit of a break lol! That being said, I could see myself doing the same thing. I wouldn't have been able to leave that little girl behind or anyone else I knew was hurting.
This book will be forever stamped on my soul. 5 out of 5 stars. I can't wait for the next one.
