First I would like to start by saying that the cover is absolutely gorgeous! I felt instantly connected to the cover which features a dark skinned kinky haired female like myself. The flower tattoo on the side of her neck is intriguing and I'm curious about the backstory behind it. When I first started reading I saw similarities to The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton which is a favorite of mine. The talk of taking sweet thistle while she was getting made up reminded me of belle rose tea during beauty appointments in that book. Clementine's encounter with the man was so detailed it gave me chills. I had a clear picture of the room in my head. The concept of the sundown girls a is a very real issue that is happening around the world and I like that Ms. Davis gets right into this dark world.
