This book, The Godmothers by Monica McInerney was unfortunately not the book for me. The Godmothers is about Eliza Miller and how she was looked after by her two godmothers when a terrible incident occurred right before her eighteenth birthday. Although this book was quite well written and the characters were well developed, the story itself just didn't speak to me. I'm not sure exactly why this book didn't work for me because it was everything that I should have and usually do love. Although I found this book to be a little disappointing, I can see how other people would really enjoy reading it. As a contemporary, chick lit, romance, it should have been something that I really enjoyed reading. Even though I found the story to be rather slow moving, I think that a lot of people will find that it adds to the story. As this was the first book I've read by this author, I would definitely give her another shot should the opportunity arise.
