After reading the first few chapter teasers, I knew I had to experience The Godmothers in its entirety. I wasn't let down - this was an all-night read for me. There were moments of, "oh, please do not go down that stereotypical route where girl comes into town, and solves everyone's problems." and the relief when this book went it's own path. This was, in my opinion, definitely reminiscent of a Mamma Mia story but it was grittier with more heartache. There were some good twists, and there was more than one secret to be discovered. Who was Eliza's father? Okay...I didn't see that one coming, and then there was the other secret? I won't tell you that one, and the godmothers mention it to each other but don't reveal it until the end and in a very unusual (unusually creative) fashion. There is some (romantic) love that is handled well - not too mushy and not too soon. All loose ends are tied-up and yet we still could do with a follow-up book.
