I enjoyed The Godmothers by Monica McInerney a lot. The story takes the reader from Australia to Scotland to England and to Ireland. The plot of the story is focused around the main character's, Eliza Miller. journey to find out who her father is. The characters were developed well, and I liked how they had depth. Eliza grew up with her single mother and her very supportive godmothers. One day, she comes home from university to find her mother dead. For years she lives a safe and secure life, until one of her godmothers invites her to Scotland for her other godmother's wedding. I loved the premise and the self-discovery journey that Eliza went on as she traveled half way around the world. Her emotions felt very real especially while she was looking for her father. I loved the author's writing and how she portrayed the experiences of the characters. This was a good read!
