This is not a book I would typically go for, I am more interested in fantasy type books. It did take me a little longer to read, but not because it wasn't interesting. The character of the mother Jeannie both broke my heart and kind of angered me. Telling such fanciful stories to her daughter, and then making a promise she was unable to keep because she passed away. It broke my heart, I was able to relate to Eliza, in a sense that she ended up living a life that she wasn't able to thrive in. Eliza was working a job where she wasn't appreciated, and was let go in a way that showed her she wasn't important. Elizabeth godmothers had a difficult choice to make, they had to figure out how to help eliza bloom, and also figure out how to tell her and what to tell her about her mother's past and the father she didn't grow up around. Eliza, also had to go through all the emotions and decide what she actually wanted. This book is one that will make you think about your life, what choices you might make as a parent, but it also has love, light and hope written into the pages.
