As a girl of slight build, I can relate, but thankfully, I have never been inflicted by the diagnosis of anorexia or bulimia. I was monitored and watched in high school. At my mother's request, the school nurse would weigh me, and my friends would report that I ate my lunch. My mind was never inclined to be anorexic, but I can see how such focus can be damaging to one's self-esteem and self-worth. My own battles with my self-image were more forced upon me, rather than from within.
